Fresh popped buttered popcorn is coated with a simple syrup of sugar and water and baked for a star-studded movie-night treat that casts both sweet and salty in a leading role.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 6 cups popped butter flavor popcorn
Cooking Instructions
- Line two baking sheets with waxed paper. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine sugar, water and butter. Bring to a boil. Boil 4 minutes; remove from heat. Introduce popcorn and stir to coat evenly.
- Pour popcorn onto prepared baking sheets. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Break into bite-size pieces.
