Fresh popped buttered popcorn is coated with a simple syrup of sugar and water and baked for a star-studded movie-night treat that casts both sweet and salty in a leading role.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cups popped butter flavor popcorn

Cooking Instructions

  1. Line two baking sheets with waxed paper. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
  2. In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine sugar, water and butter. Bring to a boil. Boil 4 minutes; remove from heat. Introduce popcorn and stir to coat evenly.
  3. Pour popcorn onto prepared baking sheets. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Break into bite-size pieces.
