 What Makes a Good Outer Box

  • heavy
  • sturdy
  • size

should be large enough to allow 2 to 3-inchs of cushioning material around the inner box

 Do Use

  • 2-inch wide clear or brown packing, paper or strapping tapes

 Don’t Use

  • string, twine, masking or cellophane tapes

 How to Tape it Closed

  • tape all seams and reinforce them

Addressing the Box

Reusing a Box

  • using permanent black marker cover all previous markings and labels

 Where to Put the Address

  • print or type the delivery address parallel to the longest side of the package

 Address Printing Tips

  • print or type clearly
  • use pen or permanent marker
  • address should be readable from an arm’s length
  • do not use commas or periods

 Protect Address from Smearing or Falling Off

  • cover address with clear, heavy packing tape
