Average User Rating:
This chilled, no-bake dip has festive seasonal colors, thanks to the green from the guacamole and the red from the salsa. It’s easy to layer the ingredients, since nothing has to be cooked or baked. An eye-catching dip for a holiday party, this can be prepared up to six hours ahead of time.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup grated hot pepper Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup store-bought bean dip
- 1/2 cup chunky salsa (mild or medium)
- 1 cup store-bought guacamole
- 1/4 cup sliced ripe olives
- Tortilla chips for serving
Cooking Instructions
Substitution(s)
- In place of bean dip, you can substitute canned refried beans. Both are usually in the ethnic food aisle of the supermarket.
- Canned olives are fine for this recipe, but be sure they are pitted.
Make-Ahead
- In a medium bowl, stir together the sour cream, cream cheese, and grated Monterey Jack cheese.
- With a table knife or a narrow spatula, spread out the cheese mixture onto a pretty 10-inch plate. Refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
- Spread the bean dip over the cheese mixture, being careful not to stir it into the cheese mixture. There should be a thin layer of cheese mixture showing.
- Spread the salsa over the bean dip, leaving about half an inch of bean dip visible.
- Carefully spread the guacamole onto the salsa, leaving a ring of salsa visible. Sprinkle the olives over the guacamole. Cover loosely and refrigerate until serving time.

- You can find prepared guacamole in the dairy case or frozen food case. If you buy it frozen, allow it to thaw completely before using in this recipe.

Are there picky eaters in your family who don’t like it when everything is mixed together? Scoop some of these dip ingredients that your child likes in small bowls, and offer him chips for dipping.
How kids can help
- Kids can help by spreading the cream cheese on the plate, by measuring ingredients, and by sprinkling on the olives.
