Healthy Grab-and-Go Breakfast

By Jennifer Saltiel

In a perfect world, your morning would be far less the mad dash than it is. Your child would spring out of bed, get dressed (without argument) and have plenty of time to sit down for a hearty breakfast. While she ate, you would pack a wholesome lunch filled with good-for-you foods that she would actually enjoy eating at school.

There never seems to be enough time during the morning rush, let alone feed your family a proper meal. Still, you know how important proper nutrition is for everyone.

“Healthy eating is essential for:

  • providing kids with all the nutrients they need to develop
  • and to have the energy for their school day and activities”

says Mindy Hermann, RD, a Child nutrition expert in Mount Kisco, New York.

“Breakfast is important because it gives children a jumpstart on their day," she adds.

Numerous reports have shown that kids who eat a well-balanced breakfast have:

  • better overall test scores
  • concentration
  • and behavior in kids
